A tribute to the sailing vessels of old and the three masted schooners of today. MikeVideo combines footage shot aboard four full size sailing ships at the Dana Pt. Tall Ships Festival on Sept. 8th, 2007, with photos and paintings acquired through websearches, and scored to a music file that contains lots of traditional sea shanties.

Oh, now I want to live on the sea.
Kept waiting to see someone walk the plank, or Captain Jack though.

I think the music adds a lot to the video. Too bad the other tourists couldn't have kept a little quieter! ; )

I wouldn't mind a video of the shore sometimes. (Like you used in the last part of the video.) That would be cool, especially seeing the same shoreline under different conditions, maybe, or just the change in the course of the day.

I was a little confused by the footage of the fish, though. They were the original "sailors of the deep"?

Mike, this has to certainly rank in the very best of your videos thus far. There were too many points I wanted to comment on while watching the film and am afraid I'll forget some... Loved the tempo especially in the first third of the video, the transitions you used there were executed extremely well. The music was very well chosen and atmospheric. Think I would have cut out a few modern-looking scenes in the middle, but that's just my taste. Another great aspect of the film was the ending...you usually do fantasic openings and endings, and this video was no exception! The fading into the blue and bringing up the rock/sea scape from the bottom was wonderful. Oh yeah, almost forgot...the manner in which you shot the original footage was also so artisticly done...a good zoom here, good panning up, down, or across there, the angles and the details of the rigging... Great, great job, Mike. Love those tall ships.
